Author of The Brown Crayon, Michael G. Williams to speak at Oberlin Elementary School
Public book signing and community gathering to follow.
Oberlin, OH – OberlinKids, Oberlin City School District, and Oberlin Public Library are excited to bring Michael G. Williams, the author of The Brown Crayon to Oberlin during Black History Month. The author uses crayons as an analogy to demonstrate our perception of the value and desirability of color and writes about the very current hot topics of racism and self-image.
On February 17th the author will speak to our youngest citizens at Oberlin Elementary School. “This book will change the way we see colors. Young children will have no problem understanding the lesson and, hopefully, the parents who read the story to their children will help them see the beauty in all colors”, said Michaell G. Williams. Grant dollars from the Oberlin School Districts Endowment Fund and an added book donation from Oberlin Public Library will allow for the school’s students to each receive a copy of the book. A public book signing and community gathering will follow the day’s events at 6 pm at the Oberlin Elementary School, 210 North Park Street Oberlin, OH 44074. The event is free and open to all; masks are required. Event participants should enter through the rear (cafeteria doors) of the building off of Park street. Parents are encouraged to bring their children to get their books signed. Limited copies will be available at the community event.
Michael G. Williams has over 22 years of experience as an Educator and Professional Development Leader in Social & Emotional Learning skills. It has sold over 1000 copies in only 4 months!! It is available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble.com, Walmart.com, and Target.com. The audio version is available on all music platforms. The Brown Crayon can also be found in 11 Cleveland Public Libraries.
