As parents, we aren’t always sure what our child should be doing at a certain stage in their development. Should Sally be crawling? Should she be holding her own spoon or feeding herself? Should Billy be able to say more than 4 words by now? Parenting is full of questions.

Here is another one…Did you know OberlinKids offers an online toolkit of milestone information and kindergarten readiness guidelines that can help parents along with their child’s journey to kindergarten?

The milestone information shows what most children do at different ages and stages from infancy through 5 years of age. Milestone info sheets are available in English and in Spanish. The kindergarten guidelines give a parent a general guide to what a child may need to do to be developmentally, socially and emotionally ready to go to kindergarten. We like this toolkit as its something you can look at specific to your child’s age and from the comfort of your home over time. Children this young grow and change so fast; you may notice them not doing something one week and two weeks later that something they were not doing is now mastered!

OberlinKids’ Director, Jenn Keathley is available with any questions or concerns a parent may have about their child’s development. She can also be reached by email at jkeathley@oberlinkids.org or call/text 440-371-0113.
